Just following on from my previous post: Choosing the right niche I would like to take it one step further and show you an example of how I would go about mapping out my potential ideas. There is one part of this process which I feel is very important. As I stated in a previous post; you need to have an affinity with the subject matter of your niche website (there are exceptions to every rule but as a budding Internet entrepreneur you will do well to remeber this). For this reason, I implore you to carry out this exercise whilst saying to yourself “answer these questions without thinking about money or profit”.
As you can see from the image above, I have selected four categories which asks questions about me, myself and my interests. Of these four categories I have then gone on to note down five topics which fall under each category. You will notice that a couple of the topics appear in more than one list, if this happens to you then I would say it is a good idea to create a niche website which revolves around this subject matter. I am a keen martial artist and naturally I have an affiliate website which covers this subject. This website will feature heavily in this website over the next few weeks / months as I will open it up and provide complete transparency of my earnings, link building strategies and marketing attempts.
Just a quick post on this topic really. I just wanted to emphasise the point that before you start monetising a website, you should take your time in deciding the subject matter. If you are going to be successful then you will have to maintain the upkeep of this website over the upcoming months and years. Getting bored of your project because you are no longer interested in your subject matter is not an option. Choose wisely!
